A Great Time Is Here for White Water Rafting

Adventure Sports Center International is an international Olympic level white water rafting/canoe/ kayak slalom facility located on the mountain above the Wisp Ski Resort in Deep Creek Lake, McHenry, Maryland. It was named such because of its similarity to white beaches in Norway, Sweden, Finland. It also has three world-class rivers for rafting, two of which are very deep. One can view salmon running down the rapids in these deep rivers. The other rivers provide an easy exit from the rapids to the river’s clean beach.

The rapids in the Deep Creek lake area are ideal for rafting. The currents in these rapids are stronger than those found in other rivers, but gentle enough for beginners and experienced rafters alike. Kayakers who wish to tour the entire park should bring a kayak or paddleboard to the rapids.

For Beginners To Practice Kayaking Techniques

These rapids also contain areas for beginners to practice kayaking techniques without having to handle the rapids. There are many areas to practice alone; however, it is recommended that experienced rafters join a group before venturing into the rapids. There are also opportunities to purchase equipment from shops in nearby Vienna. However, if one rents a kayak in these areas, it is important to check out the history of the boat before purchasing so that one does not become stuck in a kayak that has been left behind by a group that has since gone missing. Rafting lessons are also available at this same lake.

There are seven natural rapids in the area including Sunshine Rapid, Rainbow Rapid, Dolphin River, Lake George, Deer River, and White Water Rapid. Some areas also have canyons in addition to the rapids. These areas are perfect for first timers and intermediate rafters alike because most of the rapids start out white and gradually transform to a more reddish color. However, despite their appearance, all of the rapids are safe for swimming. Kayakers with children should take care to ensure that there are no children or pets on the rapids at any time.

Ferries

Another popular method of white water rafting is via ferries. Ferries travel through canals which provide views similar to that of a river. Kayakers of all skill levels can use ferries to travel from one point to another. In addition to being a cost-effective method of travel, this is also a fun way to explore the various waterways in the area.

One of the areas in which water rafting is very popular is Rockville. This area has two rivers – Brandywine and Cedar Creek. They are connected by a boardwalk which offers access to a number of overlooks, falls, restaurants, shops, and other attractions. All skill levels can use the boardwalk to enjoy the area. One of the most popular white water rafters is Steve Shanks who travels frequently between his Rockville home and the White River.
